Does everyone at the wedding need to download it?
No. Nobody does. One person runs the live games from one phone, and the printed packs go on the tables. That is the whole design.
Can we play with no preparation at all?
Yes. Every live game reaches its first question in under a minute from a cold start, using the questions already in the app. The Couple Bank and the printed packs make it more personal; they are never required.
How does the big screen work?
Connect the phone to the venue’s television or projector, by cable or by AirPlay, and the game throws its scene onto it while the phone stays your controller. If there is no screen, every game is complete on the phone alone. Nothing is missing without one.
What is the shoe game, and when should we play it?
The couple sits back to back, each holding one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s. The MC reads a question and both of them raise the shoe belonging to whoever the answer is. Whirl puts it where the professionals put it: while the band sets up or the DJ takes a break, about ten minutes, never during dinner and never at the very end. The run sheet already has it in the right place.
Are the photos I load private?
Yes. Photographs you use in How Old Were They are stored in a private folder on your phone, excluded from backups, never synced to iCloud, and never uploaded anywhere. Settings shows the count and deletes them all in one tap.
Is there any drinking in it?
No. There are no drinking games and no drinking prompts anywhere in the app. There are children at one table and grandparents at another, and every deck is written for both of them.
Does it assume a bride and a groom?
No. Every question in every deck is framed as “who”, so no prompt presumes a role. You choose how the app describes you: bride and groom, two brides, two grooms, or names only. All four work identically.
Do I have to pay? Is there a subscription?
You can browse every deck and preview every pack for free. One payment of 19.99 US dollars, or the local equivalent, unlocks every game and every pack forever. There is no subscription and no renewal.
How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?
Settings, then Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple account.
How do I print the packs?
Open any pack, set how many you need, and tap Print or Export. Pick A4 or US Letter in Settings; every pack paginates for whichever you choose. The PDFs are made on your phone.
Will everything survive if I reinstall or change phones?
Yes, if you are signed in to iCloud. Your purchase, the Couple Bank, your tables, the run sheet, the pack settings and the keepsake all come back. Photographs stay on the phone they were added to, deliberately.
What happens if the phone rings in the middle of a game?
Nothing is lost. Come back to the app and the round is exactly where you left it, on the same question, with the same score. The screen also does not sleep while a game is running.
I tapped the wrong thing in front of a hundred and fifty people.
There is an Undo on every live screen, always in the same place, and it takes back the last thing you did. Scores can also be edited directly at any point.
