Moonshot Media Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Smash mobile application for iPhone and Apple Watch (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App.
We have designed Smash to keep your data private. The App does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data with us or any third party. Match history, scores, and player names stay on your devices.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or have access to any of the following:
- Your name, email, phone number, or address
- Account credentials (the App does not require you to create an account with us)
- Analytics, usage statistics, or telemetry
- Crash reports sent to our servers
- Advertising identifiers or tracking data
- Location data
- Health or fitness data
- Contacts, calendar, photos, or other device data
The App contains no third-party advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies. The App’s privacy manifest declares no data collection and no tracking.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following locally on your iPhone, and nowhere else:
- Match history: scores, formats, dates, and durations of matches you record
- Player names you choose to add, and the statistics derived from your match history (head-to-head records, win rates, streaks, and the in-app Smash Rating estimate)
- Player names you recently used for club sessions, kept so the next session is quicker to set up
- Your settings, such as preferred match format, score caller preference, and language
This information never leaves your device except as described in Sections 3 and 7. Deleting the App deletes it.
3. Apple Watch Sync
If you use the Apple Watch app, the live match (score events, format, and side or player names) is exchanged directly between your iPhone and your paired Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework. This is device-to-device communication between your own devices. It does not pass through any server of ours; we operate none.
4. The Spoken Score Caller
The optional score caller speaks the score using Apple’s on-device speech synthesis. The spoken audio is generated entirely on your device. The App does not use the microphone, does not record audio, and sends nothing to us or to any third party to provide this feature.
5. Workout Sessions on Apple Watch
During a match, the watch app runs a generic workout session for one purpose only: watchOS would otherwise suspend the App mid-match, and the session keeps the scoreboard active on your wrist. The App does not read any data from the Health app, records no health or fitness measurements, and saves nothing to the Health app. When the match ends, the session ends.
6. Live Activities and the Dynamic Island
If you allow Live Activities, the current score is shown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. This is rendered on your device by iOS. No score data is sent to us or to any third party to provide this feature.
7. Sharing Result Cards
Result card images are generated entirely on your device. When you share one, it goes through the standard iOS share sheet to the app you choose (Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, and so on). We do not see what you share or where you share it. The receiving app’s own privacy policy applies to anything you send through it.
8. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive your name, payment details, or billing address. The App checks your purchase entitlement on-device using Apple’s StoreKit framework. For details on how Apple handles your data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal data from anyone, including children. Since we collect nothing, we hold no information about any user of any age.
10. Data Security
Because your data never leaves your devices, its security is provided by the protections built into iOS and watchOS, including device encryption and your passcode or biometrics. We recommend keeping your devices updated and protected with a passcode. If you use iCloud Backup at the device level, your App data is included in that backup under Apple’s iCloud terms; that backup belongs to you, not to us.
11. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)
Under data protection laws, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because we do not collect or hold any personal data about you, there is normally nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete: your data is on your device and under your direct control. Deleting the App removes it. If you believe we hold personal data about you, or have any privacy question, contact us and we will respond promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Ireland this is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through the App or the App Store listing.
